I am so thrilled to have completed a layout with my mom, this has been a hard thing for me to do since she left us. Everytimg I tried to do a page, tears would come and i would shut down. well the other day working on the circle journal "mother" topic, it was like a big weight lifted. I said it was cathartic and "whoa" all at the same time, indescriabable really but whatever or however it happen, I am thankful.

I hope you like the layout, Now i can be sure that more will be coming!

Mother

I am in a fantastic circle Journal swap and loving every minute of it!! (I wasn't going to play this time as I didn't think i would have the time - well after some lovely words from Mel (thanks friend), I decided to make time!)

Here is one of my entries to one of the journals - She had already picked topics and we were to choose 2 of the topics and create 9x9's out of the topics using quotes. As well, i tied the colors & products to a Mission Create challenge, check out all the entries - love the different takes (go check it out)

I have to say this one was incredibly hard for me as All I thought about was my Mom, and the ache I feel everyday she isn't here. I miss her soooooo much, that words just don't suffice. I thought of tons I wanted to write, but wouldn't fit with the instructions given - so I have a page that has tons of journalling and i will put it together later (glad too, as I haven't touched this topic since my mom became my angel, so kind of soothing too me)

For now, i offer you this. Please enjoy!

It's Up to you!! YEEHAW for me!! Giveaway as well

Hi Linda,
We'd like you invite you to our "Sisterhood of Scrap" design team!!! Carla will be sending you a more detailed email shortly!!! Welcome to the sisterhood!!!

YES.... you are reading correctly - i received this just in time (Dec 28th) - as one of my resolutions this year was to work hard on my "storytelling", pump up the creativity!

Well this leads me to one of my first posts for Sisterhood of Scrap!!!! Text Thursday - i am issuing a journalling challenge:
- i want you to record your resolutions
- personal, professional - whatever you want.
- i figure, that not only do we write it down, we put it out there so that we can get the encouragement & guidance from friends & family - what a better way to succeed. Accountability is yours of course, but so much easier when shared with others. You don't have to be a scrapbooker, stamper, card maker, creative person - just be you and put them done - this applies to all!!! for those that do want to get creative, I would be thrilled to see your photo of what you did.

here are Mine:
- 1 pepsi allowed per day (this is a toughie as i am shamefully drinking about 5 or so a day)
- i am going to work at entering contests, submissions, getting my work out there more
- i am going work harder on custom orders
- organizing my scrap area
- setting up the children's play/sleepover/game area
- getting all my year-ends caught up
- starting earlier working on my Children's Christmas Store (http://www.goodtidings4u.com) so in need of masive donations this year
- spend less and stretch that dollar more... after this tough year that past i realize how easy it is to just watch everything you saved up go away when economy is tough - want those bills paid off & money back in the bank
- I will get all my paperwork and office back on track (includes linking all the computers)
- set up my Craft Robo and get it working & use it... (yes, I feel bad - had for a few years and used 2 x)
- get some classes going again for scrapbooking - so miss the adult conversation & laughs
- attend some scrap related gatherings - I have met and continue meeting awesome people
- loose weight & exercise - this is a tough one for me - always on the go and then so exhausted, just need my mindset changed and giver'
- see the positive in everything - i have realized since beginning of last year that i have some pretty amazing friends & family in my life, and then I have some that are too high-maintenance, filled with drama and then talk about me behind my back - this is stopping, i don't need it or WANT it anymore...
- i am going to continue singing, dancing and laughing with my fabulous girls at any given moment and continue not caring who or what others think - i will be the role model i have always wanted to be
- i am blessed with health and will keep that a number one factor in my life & in the lives of those i love & hold dearly.
- i will make time for my family at any given moment.

well, i do hope that i will have a ton of you following along with me and keeping me on the path (between the ditches as we say it!). Keeping me in focus and on task - yep, that's what i need from you!! Now who is with me? i can't wait for your comments, and who knows - you may get a pressie!!
Hugs & Beans - and go Live the Life you LOVE baby!!!

creative box

I had a blast with a bunch of fabulous ladies a couple of weekends ago. Leica Forrest taught us to use Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in a "new" way.

The flowers are available at $1 store and spraying with glimmer mist is an easy way to match up colors and make ones you need... The Tulle is also sprayed with GM as well - so love this box, once again, it looks better in person!

here are other ones created by some fabulous ladies

this bum's me out really bad...

I have been working hard faxing, email, phoning, visiting - using all and any spare (what is that?!) time to try and gather donations for my Children's Christmas Store.

i sat and filled out a 4/5 page form for Air Canada, answering and writing tons of information and this is what i get... really, did they even read what i wrote, check out the website - make any calls. I get a PFO (please *forget* our reading...)letter that really is about saying no to kids... Perhaps i am being overly sensitive, just really not happy right now with Air Canada - a more personalized PFO than this one!! All the travel we have given them... hrumph!!

Dear Linda Shewchuk,

You submitted a proposal seeking Air Canada's support.

We read your proposal with interest and upon careful consideration, we are regrettably unable to provide the requested support.

Air Canada receives many requests for donations and sponsorships from many worthy charitable and non-profit organizations every year. The volume of requests obliges us to make difficult choices amongst the many commendable projects that are brought to our attention.

We do appreciate your consideration of Air Canada as a partner in your efforts and extend our best wishes for the success of your endeavours.

Sincerely,

Suzana Bulhoes

Clever Ideas Worth knowing

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store.
If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil.
It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating.
Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef.
It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.

To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of
spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.

Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste
of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.

Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. Yummm!

Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm.
This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.

Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up.
Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg.
Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size.
You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.
Reheating refrigerated bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in
a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food
moist and help it reheat faster.

Newspaper weeds away
Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers,
put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and for-
get about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not
get through wet newspapers.

Broken Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily.

No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.

Flexible vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and ... ta da! ... static is gone.

Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water.
Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such
as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

Re open ing envelopes
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.

Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair.

Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed How 'bout stink bugs?

INFO ABOUT CLOTHES DRYERS
The heating unit went out on my dryer! The gentleman that fixes things around the house for us told us that he wanted to show us something and he went over to the dryer and pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. (I always clean the lint from the filter after every load clothes.) He told us that he wanted to show us something; he took the filter over to the sink and ran hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a mesh material .. I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. Well ... the hot water just sat on top of the mesh! It didn't go through it at all! He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's there. It's what is in the drye r sheets to make your clothes soft and static free ... that nice fragrance too. You know how they can feel waxy when you take them out of the box ... well this stuff builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen. This is also what causes dryer units to potentially burn your house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very longtime (and to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out and wash it with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months. He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long! How about that!?! Learn something new everyday! I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought I'd share!
Note: I went to my dryer and tested my screen by running water on it. The water ran through a little bit but mostly collected all the water in the mesh screen. I washed it with warm soapy water and a nylon brush and I had it done in 30 seconds. Then when I rinsed it .. the water ran right thru the screen! There wasn't any puddling at all! That repairman knew what he was talking about!

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK.
NOT ONLY COULD IT SAVE SOMEONE'S HOME, BUT IT COULD SAVE a life!
